
Information Needed to Specify a Hydraulic Cylinder
A practical guide to collecting pressure, stroke, force, dimensions, mounting, speed, and operating conditions before requesting a custom cylinder.
Start by describing the machine function: what the cylinder moves, whether force is needed in one or both directions, whether motion is horizontal or vertical, and what happens to the load if pressure is lost.
Working pressure and required force should be reported separately. Pressure belongs to the hydraulic circuit, while actual force depends on effective piston area and load conditions. If only one value is known, additional data will be required.
Stroke, bore, rod diameter, and mounting dimensions come next. For a replacement cylinder, record connection distances in retracted and extended positions, pin or flange details, and surrounding-space constraints.
Motion speed, cycle count, time under load, and pauses affect flow, oil heating, sealing, and component life. Dust, moisture, temperature, oil type, and possible pressure shocks also matter.
Finally, provide quantity, drawings, images, equipment information, and sample availability. Sample handover in Mashhad should be arranged with the company before visiting.
